The Linteler Kirchweg bridge carries a foot and cycle path over the Deutsche Bahn line at Hude in Lower Saxony. It is the second railway crossing Dr Verslas has built.
The structure is 22.45 m long and 3.0 m wide, weighs 8.5 tonnes and is designed for an imposed load of 5 kN/m² — the crowd loading that applies to public footbridges across Europe.
Weight is the whole argument over a railway. A track possession is counted in hours, and aluminium weighs roughly a third of what steel weighs for the same volume, so a span like this goes in under one mobile crane in a single lift rather than being assembled above a live line. There is no repainting cycle to plan over the tracks either, which is where the difference shows up in life-cycle cost rather than in the tender price.
The bridge is CE marked under EN 1090-3, certificate 2268-CPR-434.
