The Bachstraße bridge carries a foot and cycle path over the Leinbach at Schwaigern, Baden-Württemberg. The client was the town of Schwaigern.
At 116.6 m it is the longest structure in this project list: an aluminium truss 4.0 m wide, 46.0 tonnes in total, designed for an imposed load of 5 kN/m² and for service vehicles up to 5 tonnes. That works out at a little under 100 kg of structure per square metre of deck, and it is the figure that sets the size of the foundations and of the lifting plant.
Aluminium does not rust, so the coating here is there for appearance rather than for protection. The caveat is detailing rather than the alloy: aluminium has to be kept out of direct contact with dissimilar metals, which is a question of galvanic corrosion. Over a thirty-year horizon that difference shows up in the life-cycle cost rather than in the tender price.

The bridge was delivered in September 2026 as serial number 020, CE marked under EN 1090-3, certificate 2268-CPR-434.
