Aluminium railings and parapets, engineered to outlive the structure they stand on

Certified aluminium pedestrian parapets, guardrails and handrail systems for bridges, walkways, embankments and stairs — including retrofit to existing concrete and steel structures. No painting cycle, no hot work on site, full EN 1090 documentation.
Overview

Railings that end the repainting cycle, not just the fall

The structure underneath does not have to be aluminium. A concrete road bridge, an ageing steel footbridge, a quay wall or an external stair — the existing deck stays, the railing is replaced.

Galvanised and painted systems fail first at the fixings, where de-icing salt collects and the coating is thinnest. Aluminium removes that failure path entirely: the system is anchored to the structure in place, with no welding on site, and the anodised or powder-coated finish is not renewed across the service life. For a maintenance authority that converts a recurring annual line into a single capital item.

Every structure below was delivered with its own aluminium parapet system — supplied to municipalities and public authorities with full EN 1090 documentation. Representative references; full register on request.
Where they go

Built for structures that already exist

The same certified system adapts to a new crossing and to a fifty-year-old deck — configured by height, infill and fixing detail for each site.

Concrete road and rail bridges

replacing corroded steel parapets on existing decks — anchored to the structure in place, without hot work or deck removal.

Footbridges and cycle crossings

pedestrian parapets configured to the height and loading required by the national standard for the crossing type.

Embankments, quays and waterfronts

salt and spray exposure, where painted and galvanised systems fail first at the fixings.

Stairs, ramps and access routes

handrail and guardrail systems for external stairs and accessible ramps.

Industrial walkways and platforms

plant access routes, wash-down areas and chemically aggressive environments.

Not sure which fits?

Send the structure type, the existing fixing detail and the required height — we map the configuration to your site.

Standards

Which class your project needs

Every market names the same product differently and tests it against a different document. This is the first thing a tender committee checks.

United Kingdom & Ireland

Pedestrian parapets to BS 7818 classes P1–P6; pedestrian guardrail to highway authority specification.

Terms used: bridge parapet · pedestrian guardrail

Germany

Geländer to the RiZ-ING standard drawings and ZTV-ING practice, in the type required by the owner.

Terms used: Brückengeländer · Geländer

Nordics

GC-räcke (SE) and GS-rekkverk (NO) for pedestrian and cycle routes; sillankaide (FI).

Terms used: bröracke · brurekkverk · sillankaide

Vehicle restraint systems — EN 1317 classes N1, N2, H2

A vehicle parapet is a different product: it is crash-tested and classified by containment level and working width under EN 1317, not by horizontal load alone. If your scheme requires an N or H class, state it in the enquiry — we confirm in writing what we can supply before you build us into the specification.

Material rationale

Aluminium against galvanised steel

For a railing on an existing structure the comparison is not strength — both carry the load. It is what each one costs the owner after handover.

2.7g/cm³ against 7.85 for steel

Less dead load added to a deck that was designed decades ago for something else.

0Recoating intervals

Galvanising and paint systems have a finite life and must be renewed. Anodised aluminium does not.

NoHot work on site

Bolted installation: no welding permit, no fire watch, shorter closures over live traffic or track.

95%+Recovered at end of life

Over 95% of aluminium used in construction is recycled at end of life.

Compliance

Tender-ready documentation with every quotation

For municipal, federal and EU-funded crossings, certification is part of the buying decision. Every quote ships with the full compliance package — calculations, declarations of performance, BIM models and conformity certificates.
