The Am Stausee bridge in Sohland an der Spree is a 27.03 m aluminium span, 2.5 m wide, weighing 5 tonnes and designed for an imposed load of 5 kN/m². The structure is fully welded and coated.
Five tonnes over 27 metres is the number worth pausing on: it is what let a single mobile crane place the span, and it is also what made the road transport from the works in Lithuania to Saxony the hardest part of the job rather than the installation. A span of this length travels as one piece or not at all.
That is the economics of a prefabricated pedestrian bridge: the welding, the coating and the deck are finished in the factory, and the site work is a lift and a set of anchor bolts.
The bridge is CE marked under EN 1090-3, certificate 2268-CPR-434.
